How to create FBA shipments and shipping plans
When you create your shipping plan, you’ll enter:
The products you’re sending and their quantities
Shipping methods and carriers (such as small parcels via UPS or freight/LTL/FTL)
If you’re prepping your products or if you want Amazon to do it (such as barcode labeling)
Step 1: Create a new shipping plan
From your Manage Inventory page in Seller Central, find the product you want to create a shipment for. Choose send/replenish inventory from the dropdown menu on the right.
Step 2: Choose how you’re packing or sending your products
Choose individual units if you have random products or random amounts of products in each shipping box.
Choose a case pack if you have the same amount of the same product in every box (for example, five shipping boxes or case packs, each with six identical items).
Step 3: Name your shipping plan and enter the number of cases and units
It helps to rename your shipping plan (in the upper left) to keep track of them. You’ll also enter the number of cases and the units per case. Ensure the total number of units is correct since it will be displayed based on these numbers.
Step 4: Choose package prep options
In most cases, you’ll choose the merchant as who preps since your products should be packed and ready to sell. However, if you want Amazon to prep, choose a relevant option from the dropdown like glass or fragile. Otherwise, select no prep needed.
Step 5: Choose who labels
Choose the merchant under which labels and verify the number of labels you need to print. Click print labels for this page to print the labels. These labels are applied to each unit of your shipment. Be sure to cover any existing barcodes on the packaging.
Step 6: Choose a shipping carrier
Here, you’ll select either small parcel delivery (SPD) or less than truckload (LTL).
Small parcel delivery is excellent for smaller shipments.
Amazon-partnered carrier shipping offers discounts, especially for beginners.
Step 7: Verify the unit amount again
This is your last chance to verify the correct number of units. If needed, you can adjust the unit amount up to 5% or six items.
Step 8: Enter packing information
Enter the dimensions and weights of your packages. The box or case dimensions should not exceed 25 inches on any side.
Step 9: Print your shipping labels
Choose how to print your shipping labels and enter the estimated ship date. You can adjust this date later if needed. Ensure the labels are visible for smooth inventory check-in at the fulfillment center.
Step 10: If you chose LTL, enter pallet information
Since LTL is for larger shipments, enter the pallet details if applicable.
Step 12: Calculate and approve shipping charges
After entering all information, hit calculate to see the estimated charges. Once approved, you have 24 hours to void these charges if needed. After approval, Amazon will bill your account.
Once you’ve approved the charges, your shipment is good to go. Just print the box labels and schedule your pickup or drop-off with the carrier.
