What are dangerous goods?

Dangerous goods (also called Hazmat) are substances or materials that might pose a risk while storing in warehouses, handling, or transporting because they contain flammable, pressurized, corrosive, or otherwise harmful substances.

Dangerous goods also refer to consumer products such as laptops, smartphones, household cleaners, spray paints, and cosmetics.

Even if you are fulfilling the order on your own as an FBA merchant, Amazon may ask you to provide additional documentation if they think the item is dangerous goods.

When Amazon suspects your item is a dangerous good, you will receive a notification from Amazon as you see your listing in the Stranded Inventory tab on Seller Central as below:

For the products that are classified as dangerous goods, you can submit the below documents:

Exemption Sheet or Safety Data Sheet (SDS): If the item is classified as dangerous goods and it is an FBA item, Amazon will turn off the listing for your account, set up tax information or exemptions, and more. 

We can also use the Merchant number in Amazon Merchant Transport Utility (AMTU), third-party applications, and XML feeds to match up products that we upload with the seller account.
