How to set up a Sponsored Products campaign?
Sponsored product ads consist of five essential aspects:
Campaigns
Ad groups (each campaign can have one or more ad groups)
Ads (each ad group can have one or more ads)
Keywords (manual ads only)
Negative keywords (can be added at the campaign or ad group level)
Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting up both automatic and manual sponsored product ads:
Step 1: Log into Amazon Seller Central
Go to your Amazon Seller Central account.
Click on the advertising tab and then select campaign manager.
Step 2: Create an automatic campaign
In the campaign manager, click create campaign.
Set your campaign name, daily budget, and campaign duration.
Select automatic keyword targeting by clicking the “automatic keyword campaign” button.
Name your ad group and select one or more products to advertise.
Set your default bid, which is the maximum amount you’re willing to pay for each click.
Finally, click save and finish to launch your automatic campaign.
Step 3: Create a manual campaign
Go back to the campaign manager and click create campaign.
Set your campaign name, daily budget, and the start date (you don’t need to set an end date).
For targeting type, choose manual keyword targeting.
Name your ad group, select the products you want to advertise, and set the default bid.
Step 4: Add keywords to your manual campaign
In the keyword section, you can either use Amazon’s suggested keywords or enter your own keywords based on keyword research.
Avoid suggested keywords: It’s recommended to conduct your own research to target the most relevant and high-traffic keywords.
Choose from the three match types:
Broad match: Shows ads for broadly related searches (e.g., "large yoga mat" triggers ads for "yoga mat").
Phrase match: Shows ads for search phrases that include your keywords (e.g., "blue yoga mat" triggers ads for "yoga mat").
Exact match: Shows ads for the exact search term only (e.g., "yoga mat").
Add your keywords and select the match type for each. If you have ten keywords, ensure each one is represented across broad, phrase, and exact match types (resulting in 30 total keywords).
Step 5: Save and finish
After entering your keywords and bids, click save and finish to launch your manual campaign.
Bonus tip:
Consider creating a second manual ad campaign that focuses on your top 5 most relevant keywords. This helps track conversions more easily and ensures your most important keywords are being given adequate attention.
