How to use budget rules in Amazon PPC

What are budget rules?

Budget rules allow you to automatically adjust daily budgets for campaigns during special shopping events or based on performance metrics, reducing the need for manual budget adjustments.

Types of budget rules

There are two main types of budget rules you can use:

  • Schedule-based rules: Increase budgets during specific dates, such as shopping events or seasonal promotions.

  • Performance-based rules: Adjust budgets based on campaign performance metrics, such as ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sales), CTR (Click-Through Rate), ROAS (Return on Ad Spend), and CVR (Conversion Rate).

How to apply budget rules to a PPC campaign

Step 1: Go to Campaign Manager

Log in to Campaign Manager and select the campaign where you want to increase the budget.

Step 2: Select Budget Rules

Within your selected campaign, click on Budget Rules.

Step 3: Name the rule and select type and date range

Enter a name for your rule and choose the rule type (schedule-based or performance-based). For schedule-based rules, Amazon may provide recommended options for major shopping events or holidays.

Step 4: Set up performance-based rules (if selected)

If you choose a performance-based rule, you can set parameters based on metrics such as ACoS, CTR, ROAS, and CVR. This allows the rule to adjust your budget when these metrics meet your specified conditions.

Step 5: Set the budget increase percentage

In the Increase Budget field, enter the percentage by which you want Amazon to increase your daily budget. Amazon will calculate the maximum budget according to this rule.

Once done, click Add Budget Rules to apply your settings.

Note: It’s best to apply budget rules to profit-generating campaigns, as the increased budget spend could impact your campaign’s ACoS.

By setting budget rules, you can optimize your ad spend efficiently, ensuring budgets align with key events or performance goals.
