Amazon Removes alt Text from all A+ Content Modules - September 2, 2025

In April 2025, Amazon quietly removed alt text from comparison charts in A+ Content.

Now, they’ve taken it a step further. As of this month, alt text has been removed from all A+ Content modules in certain regions (notably across Europe). It doesn’t matter what module layout you choose, there’s no option to enter alt text anymore. This update hasn’t rolled out in the U.S. (yet), but based on past changes, it’s likely coming soon.

Amazon Removes alt Text from all A+ Content Modules

Many sellers believed that stuffing keywords into alt text on A+ images helped with organic ranking. It didn’t. Here’s why:

  • Alt text in A+ Content was never indexed for search within Amazon. Amazon’s algorithm does not crawl alt text for A+ images

  • Alt text’s real purpose was accessibility, to help screen readers describe images for visually impaired users

Amazon has made this clear in documentation before, and the change now confirms they’re de-prioritizing accessibility metadata in A+, likely to simplify the backend or reduce compliance complexity across markets
