Amazon has issued an urgent operational notice confirming that the LIT1 Fulfillment Center has been shut down temporarily. Amazon has closed the building while third-party experts perform a full structural assessment.
If you have inventory stored at LIT1, this update directly affects you. Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s happening, how to check if you’re impacted, and what you should do next.
What’s happening at LIT1?
Amazon has paused all operations at the LIT1 facility while experts conduct building safety checks. The center will remain closed until the assessment is finished. Amazon has not given a reopening date yet.
What should sellers do right now?
Check if any of your ASINs are stored in LIT1: Go to your Inventory Ledger in Seller Central and search for the fulfillment center code LIT1. If any ASIN or FNSKU shows up under LIT1, that inventory is currently frozen and won’t move until the building reopens.
Send replacement inventory to avoid stockouts: Amazon is not transferring inventory out of LIT1 during the closure. If your best-selling products are trapped there, immediately send additional units to other fulfillment centers. To support this, Amazon has temporarily increased capacity limits so you can restock without penalty.
Do not modify inbound shipments already on the way: If you already shipped inventory to LIT1, Amazon will automatically reroute your shipment to another facility. No need to cancel, relabel, update SKUs, or recreate the shipment. Amazon has also stopped assigning new shipments to LIT1 until it reopens.
Expect automatic refunds for storage fees: If you see monthly storage fees or aged-inventory surcharges on inventory stuck at LIT1, don’t panic; Amazon will refund them within one month. No case creation or support ticket is needed.
Pause removal requests for affected ASINs: Amazon cannot physically access LIT1 during the shutdown, so removal orders cannot be processed. If you urgently need inventory, the only solution is to send new stock to active fulfillment centers.
Track your inventory status closely: Use two key reports to stay ahead during the LIT1 closure. The Inventory Ledger shows which units are stuck at LIT1, while the Restock Inventory report tells you what Amazon recommends replenishing right away. Together, these reports help you avoid out-of-stock issues while the fulfillment center remains offline.
Don’t worry about IPI or capacity score penalties: Amazon has adjusted storage capacity limits and ASIN-level restock restrictions, and also confirmed that your IPI score will not be affected by inventory trapped in LIT1. This ensures sellers are not penalized for issues caused by Amazon’s own operational shutdown.
The LIT1 closure is a temporary safety-related shutdown, but it can affect your sell-through and stock availability. Sellers need to check affected ASINs, restock quickly, and monitor their reports until LIT1 reopens.
If you need support navigating this disruption, reviewing your ASIN exposure, or planning emergency replenishment, our Amazon seller central specialist can guide you through the right steps to stay in stock and minimize the impact.
