New Amazon Product Title Policy Limits Word Repetition

Amazon has announced updates to its product title policy to make listings clearer and improve the overall shopping experience. Starting January 21, 2025, stricter rules for product titles will be enforced, including a new requirement: the same word cannot appear more than twice in a title (except for prepositions, articles, and conjunctions).

Here’s what you need to do to stay compliant:

  • Review your product titles: Check if any titles repeat the same word more than twice. For example:

    • Non-compliant: “Wireless Bluetooth Speaker - Speaker with Speakerphone”

    • Compliant: “Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with Speakerphone”

  • Update non-compliant titles: Make necessary changes to avoid redundancy and align with the character and special character limits (200 characters max, no prohibited special characters like ! or _).

  • Use Amazon’s tools: After January 21, you can view and fix flagged titles in Manage All Inventory or review suggested overrides in Review Listing Updates (brand owners only). Act on suggestions within 14 days to maintain control over your titles.

  • Non-compliant titles might be automatically updated by Amazon after the 14-day period, which could lead to titles you don’t approve of. Taking action proactively ensures your titles remain optimized for both compliance and customer appeal.
