Amazon has opened the Prime Day 2026 deal submission window starting March 24, and there are several important changes sellers need to understand.

The biggest updates include new promotion eligibility rules, a revised fee structure, and clear inventory deadlines to ensure products are Prime-ready. If you plan to run Lightning Deals, Best Deals, or Prime Exclusive Discounts, these changes directly affect how you prepare.

The deal submission window will remain open from March 24 through May 26, 2026.

What do sellers need to know about Prime Day 2026 deals?

Amazon has tightened deal requirements to ensure customers see meaningful discounts during major events like Prime Day. This means your promotions must now meet stricter price history rules.

New promotion eligibility rules

To qualify for Prime Day promotions, your deals must now meet two price conditions:

  • Your deal price must be equal to or lower than the lowest price in the last 60 days. This includes previous deals, coupons, and price discounts.

  • Your deal must offer at least a 5% discount compared to the lowest price in the last 30 days.

What should sellers do now?

  • Review your pricing history for the last 30 to 60 days

  • Make sure your planned deal price meets both requirements

  • Adjust your regular pricing strategy before submitting deals

Prime Day promotion fees have changed

Amazon is continuing the performance-based fee structure introduced last year. For Prime Day 2026, the promotion cost will be:

Fee Type

Cost

Upfront fee

$100 per promotion

Variable fee

1.5% of promotional sales

Maximum variable fee

$5,000 cap

This applies to:

  • Lightning Deals

  • Best Deals

  • Prime Exclusive Price Discounts

For the early submission discount, Amazon is encouraging sellers to submit deals early. If you schedule your Lightning Deal or Best Deal before April 30, 2026, you receive $50 off the upfront fee per deal. That means the upfront cost drops from $100 to $50. For sellers running multiple deals, this can reduce promotional costs significantly.

Prime Day inventory deadlines sellers must follow

Running a deal is pointless if inventory arrives late. Amazon has set clear inbound deadlines to ensure products are available during Prime Day.

Shipment Type

Deadline

Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD)

May 27, 2026

FBA shipments with minimal shipment splits

May 27, 2026

FBA shipments with Amazon-optimized shipment splits

June 5, 2026

Amazon will still accept inventory after these dates, but late shipments may not be processed in time for Prime eligibility. This means your deal could run without inventory available, which kills performance.

Where to submit your Prime Day deals?

  • Sellers can schedule promotions inside Seller Central → Create a Deal.

  • Once submitted, you can track performance and eligibility using the Deals dashboard.

  • Two weeks before your deal goes live, Amazon will show alerts under “Needs Action” if something requires updates. It helps sellers correct issues before the event begins.

Why does this Prime Day update matter for sellers?

Prime Day is one of Amazon’s largest sales events of the year, and deals that meet eligibility rules typically receive higher visibility and conversion. However, the new rules mean sellers need to plan earlier.

Key changes sellers must account for:

  • Stricter discount eligibility rules

  • A performance-based promotion fee model

  • Earlier inventory planning requirements

Sellers who prepare early will have a much better chance of securing deal placements and maximizing event traffic.

What should sellers do right now?

If you plan to participate in Prime Day 2026, take these steps immediately:

  • Review your price history from the last 60 days

  • Calculate whether your planned deal meets the 5% discount requirement

  • Submit Lightning Deals or Best Deals before April 30 to save $50

  • Prepare FBA shipments early to meet the May to June inbound deadlines

  • Monitor the Deals dashboard for eligibility alerts
