Top 5 Ways To Protect Your Amazon Inventory In Seller Central With Max Order Quantity

Manufacturers and Amazon retailers often run promotional offers from time to time to boost their sales figure. However, this strategy is backfired due to competitors and greedy customers. Considering the holiday seasons round the corner, the demand to make your items get included in the Amazon products listing is of utmost importance. As an Amazon retailer or seller, one has to be double caution while promoting and selling your products over internet.

As per the latest Amazon updates, there is not too many ways to curtail the quantity of units a buyer can apply to get offers. For example, you create a promotion at 70% off that typically sells at $30. Now, a customer can easily apply for 50 or more units at one go while applying the coupon and may easily walk away with as many units of inventory at a reduced price. It could result in a huge loss to you.

Maximum Order Capacity: Not all products, but if you check Amazon SEO service regularly then you must be aware that for most products, Amazon allows sellers with a setting option – ‘Maximum Order Capacity’ – which is usually set to 1 unit per product. It will prohibit a customer to purchase more than the specified limit via promo code or even at a full price.

MWS APIs: Problems arise when some products or categories do not provide that options in the seller central. However, Amazon’s MWS APIs do provide the option to edit your maximum order quantity and protect your inventory too. A simple API call is all that requires to do modification within the seller central.

Maximum Quantity Trick: The trick is to set your maximum quantity to 1 as long as the promotion continues. This will restrict the customers to book order for more than 1 unit during the promotional phase. However, it could also restrict the genuine users who wish to place an order for 2 units at that time.

Spy Your Competitor: Go to your competitor’s page and click ‘add to cart’ on a specific item and place an order. Change your order to 999 units and press update. If your competitor has less number of stocks then Amazon will notify you about the maximum limit say 556 units or otherwise you will be able to add 999 items to cart. Now you should be able to track how many competitors’ units are getting sold per day.

Free MAX account: You can also create a free MAX account to protect your inventory from greedy customers and competitors. Log in to Max and enter the desired max order quantity for each search through your inventory by entering the keywords. However, you may need to contact an Amazon FBA Consultant to make sure it works properly. MAX automatically updates quantity hence you will not have to personally update each page frequently.
